His father, Raggak Tallbeard, was a goldsmith, and had wealth enough to support his large family. With 4 older brothers, and 3 older sisters, he was the youngest child in his family. He learned very quickly that if he wanted the respect and admiration of his family and clan that it had to be by shouldering his fare share of hard work.
At an early age he was apprenticed to his uncle’s smithy, learning the art of armorsmithing, a respectable profession, and one he found he had a natural talent for.
He idolized his older brothers, all of whom were part of the clan’s military, and often times as soon as he would finish a day of hard work in the forges, he would go to meet his brothers, and try to convince them to let him train with them. It was here he received the training given to the legions of his clanhold.
Stenrick also spent some of his free time with his own friends, in the mines below his clanhold. It was this time spent in the mines that both earned Stenrick his nickname “the brave”, and his first love.
three friends ran towards the noise of excited voices, to discover the mine shaft had broken into a large cavern that positively shown with deposits of gems. As one of the excited miners struck a match in the hopes of discerning the color of the gems, the entire tunnel ignited in a massive fireball, fueled by a pocket of natural gas. As the roiling flames surged toward Stenrick and his friends, without hesitation he threw him self infront of the flames, his arm up across his face, to shield Thennig and Audre. Sadly his beard did not make it. Sadder still, there was a rumbling, as the blast had damaged the foundation of the stone above the miner’s newly discovered cave. Instead of fleeing however Stenrick ran forward, as fearless as he was now beardless, to pull the unconscious miners back from the falling stone. His arms still bear the scars of those flames, though thankfully his beard eventually grew back.A decade later, Stenrick had finished his apprenticeship, working as a full fledged armorsmith, and carved a new home for himself out of the stone that made up the clanhold. On the eve of his marriage to Audre, news of an appraoching orc horde reached the clanhold. Stenrick could not sit idly by while his clan was threatened, and so joined the legions, to protect his family, his wife, and home.
And so Stenrick, and the legion of Clangeddin’s might, left to meet the orc horde,
leaving everything they new behind.
